The Sophie Story Forum is a secure online community for parents and families of children with life limiting conditions. We are really pleased for Breathe On UK to be able to use the Sophie Story Forum as a means for parents and families of long term ventilated children to meet and communicate with each other.

Our little girl Sophie, is the inspiration behind the forums. Sophie has just turned 2 and has been fully ventilated since 6 months of age. During that time we have been on a rollercoaster ride of up and downs with her. It was this journey that got us thinking how valuable it would be to meet families in a similar situation to us and be able to chat and to share ideas, thoughts and feelings. What we felt was most needed was a place for families to go to find support in each other, to feel like they aren’t alone and that there are others in the same boat, feeling the same way. We feel that this kind of support would have helped us immensely through the hard times.

Breathe On UK is very close to our hearts. The charity has been an ongoing source of support to us since we left hospital with Sophie and they have been there for us every step of the way. Though the numbers of ventilated children are small, they are expanding each year and so the greater the need for the support Breathe On UK offers as time goes on.

It is our hope that all members of Breath On UK will register on the Sophie Story Forum and regularly access it to support each other. Neil and I are always happy to try and answer questions, share our experiences and help in any way we can.
