Our Family Support Officer joined the Breathe On UK team September 2007. She comes from a background of over 30 years experience, mainly as an Occupational Therapist, working with families who have someone who has a disability. She has wide experience in the associated problems which arise from caring in the home or living with disability.Within Breathe On UK her role has included supporting families with a child/young person on Long Term Ventilation or who need technology assistance in order to breathe. In response to requests for support help has been provided by researching and supplying local information on Carer’s Support groups, benefits and allowances, transport and mobility problems, employment issues, specialist equipment and local providers/suppliers, respite and holidays etc.
Marion is available to talk to on the telephone, by arrangement, at a time to suit parents/family members (not necessarily during office hours) and is able to liaise with professionals on the family’s behalf when appropriate. Currently (January 2010) the Family Support Officer’s position is part time with an email check daily or in the office Monday and some Wednesdays.
